Welcome to our specialised ADR (Accord Dangereux Routier) training in Leicester! In collaboration with DGSA.net, MDR Training is now offering classroom-based ADR training. Our courses are at 1 Franks Road, Bardon, Coalville, LE67 1TT.
What is ADR Training for Drivers
ADR training focuses on the safe and legal transportation of hazardous materials. Our courses cover the regulations, safety measures, and practical skills needed to handle and transport dangerous goods, ensuring you meet all legal requirements and industry standards.
Training Options
We offer a range of ADR training options to suit different needs and schedules:
FULL ADR (5-day) – Core, Packages, Tankers, Classes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9
PACKAGES ONLY ADR (4-day) – Core, Packages, Classes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9
TANKS ONLY ADR (4-day) - Core, Tanks, Classes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9
Refresher ADR Courses (note you must have at least 6 weeks remaining of your current ADR training Certificate)

Awarding Body and Final Exam
Our ADR training courses are accredited by the DVSA and Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). Delegates must pass a final exam to receive their ADR certificate. The exam consists of multiple-choice questions covering the course material, ensuring you thoroughly understand the regulations and safety procedures. Exams are held on the last day (Friday) of the course.
You will need to keep your ADR certificate up to date. Your qualification will expire 5 years from the date issued. You must book your refresher course within 6 weeks of the expiry date of your card.

ADR Course Content
Core
The drivers knowledge and skills necessary in their core operational duties:
The general requirements governing the carriage of dangerous goods
Information on environmental protection in the control of the transfer of wastes
Driver responsibilities during the carriage of dangerous goods
The prohibitions on mixed loading in the same vehicle or container
Enforcement action
Security and ‘high consequence dangerous goods’
General information concerning civil liability
Basic knowledge about the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and respiratory protective equipment (RPE)
Practicals
The practical application of specific health and safety techniques:
The administration of emergency first aid to include CPR and recovery position
Fire prevention
What to do in the case of an incident or accident
Packages
Drivers of vehicles that transport dangerous goods must have specific knowledge and skills, including:
Packaging rules and labels for different quantities
Understanding the UN Packaging scheme, testing, and certification
Knowing the purpose and types of packages, their strength and pressure limits
Required marks and labels for packages, intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), and overpacks
Definition and understanding of bulk transport and vehicles
Transport categories and exemptions based on the amount being carried
Safe handling of loads, including how to load, store, secure, and unload them
Methods for keeping loads separate and the responsibilities of involved personnel
Proper marking and labelling of vehicles carrying dangerous goods according to ADR, IMDG, and domestic laws.
Tankers
Drivers transporting dangerous goods in tanks over 1m3 or battery vehicles over 1m3 need special knowledge and skills. This includes:
Rules for using tanks
Vehicle requirements
Procedures for operating tanks and containers
Understanding filling and emptying systems
Knowing how vehicles and containers behave on the road
Actions to take in case of an incident or accident
Packages
The preventative and safety measures appropriate to the various types of hazards in Classes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9:
Class 2: gases
Division 2.1: flammable gas
Division 2.2: non-flammable gas, non-toxic gas
Division 2.3: toxic gas
Class 3: flammable liquids
Class 4: flammable solids
Division 4.1: flammable solids
Division 4.2: spontaneous combustible substance
Division 4.3: substance which emits flammable gas in contact with water
Class 5: oxidizers and organic peroxides
Division 5.1: oxidising substance
Division 5.2: organic peroxide
Class 6: toxic and infectious substances
Division 6.1: toxic substance
Division 6.2: infectious substance
Class 8: corrosive material
Class 9: miscellaneous dangerous substances and articles
